Are recessions good for the economy?
Today I gave an audio interview for RTTNews on the topic of a possible upcoming recession and whether or not it would be good for the economy. Their audio interviews can be found here. Increasing Income Inequality - 1980-2005
Worthwhile Canadian Initiative has a must-read post on the increase in market income inequality between 1980-2005. He examines the GINI coefficients for Sweden, the United Kingdom and Canada and finds an increase in inequality between 1980-1995 and stable levels of inequality between 1995-2005. This leads me to ask two very obvious questions...

 
What is the Demand For Money?
When I discuss interest rates or exchange rates I talk a fair deal about supply and demand. One thing that seems to confuse is about the idea of a 'demand' for money.
