One of the first things to look for is stability of the company. It is so much better if a home based business company has been in business for 2 to 5 years or more. There is really something good to be said about companies that have been around for a long time.
The more time that a home based business has been in business, the better chance it has at staying in business. There are lots of things to worry about in network marketing, like sponsoring and advertising. You dont want to worry about if your company will be in business next year.
There are never any guarantees, but a company with a longer track record generally has a better chance of longevity. Even if you were able to become the most successful home based business company, it would not matter if they suddenly shut it down.
The second thing to look for is the people who are in charge of the company. Ask who the president and the directors are. What are their track records and how much time they have spent in the network marketing industry. What businesses have they been involved with in the past?

If you plan to spend many years with any home based company, you would want to be dealing with people who are honest, savvy, and have integrity in and outside of the business world.

Addditonally, the products you will be offering should be priced somewhat unique and competitive. Also, learn if it will be easy to begin a home based business. Can people join online, or do they have to fill out paper forms?
Having the option to join online makes the process much easier. On the other hand, having different options will open up opportunities to many more people.
Once someone has joined free, they have partially committed to the business. This will make the follow up process easier. Your home based business company should let people join for free and let them market the products to earn income.
You should get a personal company website so that you can refer prospects. All of your prospects should be able to contact you from your website. Last of all, the more automated your home based business is the better it will be.
And your home based company should send a series of emails to follow up with all of your prospects.
In conclusion, I want to make it clear that even if the home business that you may be prospecting has every quality mentioned above, that will not guarantee your success. The only person that can guarantee your success is you! You must take the responsibility. That it is the simple truth.
